On January 21, police commissioner RMS Brar issued a detailed notification in which it was clearly stated that according to inputs from inteligence bureau and recent incidents of serious crimes, the anti social and criminal elements are found hiring houses and shops in residential aeas and industrial areas to commit crime.
The notification was issued after a string of crimes including abduction and murders. Police had given seven days time to furnish details about servants, cooks, drivers, watchmen and gardeners, among other domestic help. But police department hardly received any response.
"People are not realising the importance of the data which we are seeking. Once these things are on our records we will be able to clamp down antisocials and detect crime quickly," said Brar.
There were eight important points mentioned in the notification for owners of shops and industrial or diamond units, who were asked to provide details.
Ali Rangoonwala, an officebearer of Neminath apartment in City Light road said, "Somehow, the notification did not evoke the desired response from society members despite being important from the point of view of safety."
